Because those two words send you down completely different products, prices, and lead times, and the caller usually hasn’t decided yet.

Permanent or temporary — which boundary do you actually need?
Ask what happens to the wall in twelve months. If it stays, you want a permanent system. If it comes out when the job finishes, you want a temporary one. That single question decides the product.

A T-wall at C40/50 concrete and 50 MPa is the one people picture when they say “concrete boundary wall” — solid, tall, and heavy enough that it doubles as force protection. The temporary systems do a different job: they close a plot cheaply and legally, then move on to the next site.
What heights do precast boundary walls come in?
Self-standing precast T-walls are cast at 2.4m, 3m, 3.6m and 6m as our typical heights, with taller sections made to drawings. Temporary hoarding and fence-panel boundaries sit lower, around 2m, because they’re holding a light panel rather than standing as a structural wall.
Height is the first thing that changes everything downstream — the weight, the base footprint, the crane you need, and the price. A standard T-wall already weighs about 5,800 kg, and a 6m section is a different lift again.
Isn’t a compound wall the same thing?
No — and this is where quotes go sideways. A T-wall boundary is self-standing: it rests on its own base and can be craned into position with no ground works. A precast compound wall is a structural system — precast columns set into cast foundations with panels slotted between them, engineered for a fixed permanent perimeter around a villa, labour camp, or industrial plot.
They look similar in a photo. They’re not the same buy. Post-and-panel compound walls are designed to the consultant’s drawings against BS EN 1992 (Eurocode 2), with footings, rebar detailing, and a wind-load case. If your project needs a permanent architectural boundary that ties into the building permit, that’s the route — and it’s a different production package from a self-standing T-wall you can lift out later. When your enquiry is really a compound wall, tell us early so we quote the right thing.
What drives the price of a precast boundary wall?
There is no honest per-metre price for a boundary wall, and anyone who gives you one over the phone is guessing. A boundary is priced as a system. What actually moves the number:
- Permanent vs temporary — a self-standing T-wall and a reusable hoarding line aren’t in the same price world at all.
- Height — taller sections mean more concrete, more steel, a heavier lift, and a bigger crane.
- Run length and quantity — a long, repeating run amortises mould and setup far better than a short one-off.
- Finish — plain grey shutter finish costs less than a painted, formliner, or branded face.
- Delivery emirate and offloading — a craned, sequenced install in Al Ain isn’t the logistics of a yard drop in Dubai.

Temporary hoarding and fence systems are usually stock items and move faster still.
